HCM CITY - The Hồ Chí Minh City Music Association has launched a new music project for children this month.
The project supports music producers, composers and singers to create, perform, and release new songs, MVs and albums featuring themes for children.
Cultural houses, music clubs and entertainment centres will be encouraged to join the project while music festivals and contests for children will also be organised.
A website offering 400 Vietnamese songs and music pieces for children and teenagers was launched.
Many famous songs by talented musicians, such as Phong Nhã Hoàng Lân and Phạm Tuyên, are featured.
Highlighted works include Cô và Mẹ (Female Teacher and Mom) and Cả Tuần Đều Ngoan (Being Good Children All Week), both written by Tuyên, former chairman of the Hà Nội Music Association, who has composed more than 700 pieces of music, mostly for children.
The music is released on the association’s official YouTube channel, https://hoiamnhactphcm.vn. Listeners are encouraged to use it for free.
Chairman of Hồ Chí Minh Music Association Nguyễn Quang Vinh said music is key in education for children and teenagers. therefore promoting music to the youth is vitally important.
“Our new project will help artists, especially young music producers and singers, release more products to serve children,” he said.
In a seminar on music for children organised by the association recently, Vinh said his association is working to support “musicians to create songs for children. More creative camps for young artists will be launched this year”.

Composer Nguyễn Văn Chung of HCM City recently launched an online music project for children and teenagers.
His project, called Cùng Con Tập Hát (We Learn Singing), aims to encourage parents and their children aged three to 13 to learn to sing.
Chung’s staff will produce and release a series of 300 videos featuring his songs for kids on YouTube.
Each clip will feature a song performed by singers who will also teach how to sing the song.
Chung received a copyright certificate for his 300 songs for children given by the Copyright Office under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
He is also working on a new TV game show for children called "Super Idol Kids" produced by Việt Nam Television.
The show aims to encourage children aged four to 15 to develop their talent in music and dance.
“I hope to introduce and expand Vietnamese music and songs for children,” said Chung, who has 20 years in the industry. VNS
