General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's significant contributions to party-building and anti-corruption are well-recognized. Given the challenges, what are your views on the future effectiveness of the anti-corruption efforts?
The passing of any leader is a great loss to the Party, the organization, and the people. However, it is essential to understand that the passing of leaders is a natural part of life, one that cannot be avoided. At the same time, the work of any individual or organization, including a Party, continues through succession. I firmly believe that our Party will choose a worthy successor for the position of General Secretary. The tasks of party-building and combating corruption must continue.
As a revolutionary organization with over 94 years of experience and trials, our Party is well-prepared to continue its mission. The Central Committee and our cadre of loyal and creative members embody a tradition of unity and collective decision-making. Whoever assumes the role of General Secretary will need to continue these vital efforts. The decision to continue or halt these efforts is not up to any individual leader but reflects the collective will of the Party and the aspirations of the people.
Every day, every official and Party member, especially those in key positions, faces challenges and temptations related to personal interests, power, and responsibilities. The higher the position, the greater the responsibility and expectations. In this context, the heartfelt admonitions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are particularly poignant: “Human honor is the most sacred and noble thing.” Maintaining personal and Party reputation is therefore a primary expectation of officials and the people.
