HÀ NỘI — A photo contest has been launched by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment's Natural Resources and Environment journal to commemorate the Action Month for the Environment 2024.
The contest, themed 'Action for a Blue Ocean', seeks artistic photos conveying powerful messages about marine environmental protection and promoting a plastic-free Việt Nam to both domestic and international audiences.
Supported by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Việt Nam Administration of Seas and Islands, the contest aims to raise awareness and change the behaviour of local authorities, individuals and businesses regarding plastic use reduction, particularly single-use plastics.
Through the contest’s images, the organisers urge the community to reduce plastic waste and become more aware of the negative impacts of improper waste management on human health and the environment.
The contest encourages proper waste disposal and the use of eco-friendly products, fostering an appreciation of the beauty and importance of protecting the marine environment.
Additionally, it aims to recognise and motivate organisations and individuals who actively participate in reducing ocean plastic pollution.
The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners living and working in Việt Nam, regardless of professional status, age or gender.
Submissions should be high-quality photos that vividly depict individuals and communities engaging in practical actions to protect the environment, marine ecosystems and oceans.
They should highlight the necessity of protecting the marine environment for sustainable development and underscore the urgent need to protect the ocean from environmental impacts, particularly marine pollution.
The submitted works should showcase creative ideas and realistic perspectives on addressing plastic pollution, bringing tangible benefits to the community, environment and society.
